Viraday is a combination drug for the treatment of HIV in adults. Viradai contains three active ingredients that are effective in the treatment of HIV infection: Efavirenz + Emtricitabine + Tenofovir. The drug inhibits the action of the reverse transcriptase enzyme.
Original drug: ATRIPLA (Atripla), manufactured by Merck, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Gilead Sciences.
Generic: VIRADAY, manufactured by Cipla Ltd.
At the start of treatment, patients should not have resistance to any of the three components of Viraday. Treatment is prescribed by an infectious disease specialist with experience in treating HIV infection.
Recommendations for use
The recommended dosage of Viraday is 1 tablet orally once every 24 hours. Do not chew, swallow whole, and drink plenty of water. It should be taken before meals, as eating often leads to an increase in the concentration of efavirenz, which can cause unpleasant side effects. To prevent unwanted side effects from the nervous system, the drug is recommended to be taken before bedtime.
Viraday is contraindicated in patients with chronic hepatitis B, since its use can lead to an exacerbation of the disease. The most common side effects when taking Viraday:
pain in the gastrointestinal tract;
rush of blood;
difficulty falling asleep;
Lactic acidosis (excessive accumulation of lactic acid in the blood due to liver damage) rarely occurs, which can lead to pancreatitis, liver or kidney failure.
Interaction with other drugs
The drug is not used simultaneously with the following drugs:
herbal preparations containing St. John's wort
bepridil or ergot alkaloids
methylergonovine (competition of efavirenz for the CYP3A4 protein can lead to a decrease in the metabolism of these drugs and the appearance of serious complications or life-threatening phenomena (cardiac arrhythmia, prolonged sedation or respiratory depression).
Viraday is contraindicated in certain patient groups. You should seek the advice of a doctor:
with an allergy to tenofovir, emtricitabine or efavirenz;
